Let’s see how to search for a word on a web page using Chrome, Edge, Explorer or Firefox. Each of these web browsers allows you to search within the Internet page to which we are connected by simply typing in the search bar the desired item or the precise phrase that we want to find.

How to search for a word on a web page with Chrome

Let’s open Chrome, the web browser developed by Google.

To search for a word on a web page, connect to the Internet page where we want to search.

We click Customize and check Google Chrome (the icon with the three vertical dots at the top right).

Click on Find …

The Chrome search bar will appear at the top right.

To open the Chrome search bar we can also use the keyboard shortcut.

If we are using Windows or Linux we press the Ctrl and F keys on the computer keyboard simultaneously.

If we are using a Mac, we press the ⌘ and F keys on the computer keyboard simultaneously.

In the search box (top right of the page) we type the search term or the exact phrase we want to find.

If the search term we typed is present on the Internet page, it will be highlighted in yellow.

We use the ∧ ∨ indicators to display where all the matches of the search term are found on the Internet page.

Google Chrome will automatically search for all the terms we type in the search bar highlighting the matches found.

In addition, in the side scroll bar of Chrome you can view where all the matches are located (identifiable by the yellow marks).

How to search for a word on a web page with Edge

We open Edge, the Microsoft web browser included on all computers with Windows 10 operating system (→ which version of Windows is installed on the computer).

To search for a word within a web page, connect to the Internet page where we want to search.

In the Edge Toolbar, click on the Settings icon and more (the icon with the three dots at the top right).

In the menu that appears, click Find on the page.

In the Enter the text to search (top left) box, type the search term or the exact phrase we want to find.

If the search term we typed is present on the Internet page, it will be highlighted in yellow.

We use the <> indicators to display where all the matches of the search term are found on the Internet page.

How to search for a word on a web page with Explorer

We open Explorer, the Microsoft web browser included on all computers with Windows operating system (→ which version of Windows is installed on the computer).

To search for a word within a web page, connect to the Internet page where we want to search.

We press the Ctrl and F keys on the computer keyboard simultaneously.

In the Find: search box (at the top of the page) we type the search term or the exact phrase we want to find.

If the search term we typed is present on the Internet page, it will be highlighted in blue.

Click on Previous or Next to see where all the matches of the search term are on the Internet page.

How to search for a word on a web page with Firefox

Let’s open Firefox, the web browser developed by Mozilla.

To search for a word within a web page, connect to the Internet page where we want to search.

In the Firefox navigation bar we click the Open menu button (the icon at the top right with the three horizontal lines).

We click Find.

In the Find on page (at the bottom of the page) box, type the search term or the exact phrase we want to find.

If the search term we typed is present on the Internet page, it will be highlighted in green.

We use the ∧ ∨ indicators to see where all the search term matches are on the Internet page.

To open the Firefox search bar we can also use the keyboard shortcut.

We press the Ctrl and F keys on the computer keyboard simultaneously.
