Although the game of bingo is regularly associated with people of an older generation, it has recently gained popularity amongst the mid-20s crowds. The rise in popularity of bingo can also be seen on the TV screen, with movies and series producing some memorable scenes. As a result of this, online bingo has also grown in popularity, with a range of different types of bingo games available and some even being based on tv shows and movies.

Not only that, film and bingo have had a strong mutual relationship. Take Naked Gun, for example. The irreverent Leslie Nielsen-starring comedy gave a little nod to the game and now has its own bingo slot title, alongside other movie-based games like Kong at https://bingo.paddypower.com/. There’s clearly a connection of sorts.

Better Call Saul (2015)

As with most scenes in Vince Gilligan’s award-winning Better Call Saul, the bingo scenes are absolute classics. Crooked lawyer Saul Goodman finds himself in a retirement home in an effort to gain more clients for himself. Whilst usually a smooth talker and excellent manipulator, in one epic scene we see Saul having a minor breakdown in the middle of hosting a bingo night. He starts a long aimless rant with the unsuspecting bingo players looking puzzled whilst waiting to continue with the game. This brilliant scene features a classic bingo set up in an event hall, and gives a genuine glimpse of how live bingo is played. Rampage (2009)

In this extremely unusual scene from the 2009 thriller Rampage, an assassin turns up to a bingo hall and produces a unique and unexpected bingo movie moment. The scene starts just by showing the bingo contestants engrossed in their game, and when the assassin (dressed in full body armour) enters the venue, everyone is far too interested in the bingo to even acknowledge him. The assassin obtains some food from the counter in the hall and sits down to eat it, but this still does not stop the bingo from continuing. The game is only briefly halted whilst the protagonist pulls one of the bingo balls. However, he quickly leaves and the game swiftly resumes, with everyone still solely focused on the game. Reportedly, the bingo players in this scene were actually playing bingo and not paid actors. This memorable scene is light-hearted genius in an otherwise dark film and shows just how interested people can get in bingo and one that gained its German director a lot of praise, per https://bloody-disgusting.com/reviews/. The scene also shows a range of different ages of people playing bingo, showcasing its popularity amongst more ages in the modern age.

Big Momma’s House 2 (2006)

A golden rule of bingo is broken in this iconic scene in Big Momma’s House 2. As soon as Big Momma and the family enter the bingo hall, one of the party starts shouting “bingo, bingo!” This is met with an angry reaction from the rest of the players. In the scene, Big Momma, who is actually an FBI agent undercover as a nanny, explains that you should never shout bingo unless you actually have it. This is solid advice for the game itself – always make sure you have bingo before announcing it!

Bingo isn’t the most popular game represented through TV and movies, however, there still remains many iconic scenes containing the game. These scenes show bingo is still immersive and entertaining regardless of the scenario. Just remember the golden rule!
