Your bedroom is neat and orderly, but it still looks incomplete
Do you feel like something is off in your otherwise clean and organised room? This room might have all of the essentials – a bed, wardrobe and curtains but still feel incomplete without small go-to pieces.
Your starting point is currently not the worst, you just need a structure. With a few easy tweaks, the space can finally feel finished and serene. For Bedroom Renovations, visit thekitchenrefurbishmentcompany.co.uk/bedroom-renovations
1)You lack a single clear focal point
For the vast majority of bedrooms: it should be your bed. As more design elements are added to the room, it can start looking like your dream room. What to add:
A headboard, even just a basic one
A pair of matching night tables, or ones that are similar in height and scale
A textured or colour wall behind your bed (think paint, wallpaper, wood paneling).
2) The light is overly harsh (or almost worse, too flat)
One single ceiling fixture seldom ever warms up a bedroom. That can make everything a little less cosy.
Add bedside lamps – especially if you can use warm bulbs (totally changes the mood)
A floor lamp in the corner to eliminate shadows. If there is no space next to the bed then wall lights.
3) Your curtains are improperly sized. You’re dealing with either too short or too skimpy curtains that can just feel slightly “off” without you understanding why.
Add: Floor-to-ceiling curtains full length. A broader pole intended for the curtains to fold back freely toward one side and not obstruct the window. If you need to blackout a little better, add a simple blind underneath.
4) Lack of texture. If everything is smooth, such as your bedding is plain with walls or boring furniture does seem dull. What to top it off with:
Bedding that has more than a single layer, like throws and 2 cushions. A bit of a patterned rug to add texture, especially if you have hardwood floors. Seek out linen, wool, rattan and wood for items.
5) Too empty or randomly filled walls. Blank walls make your house look incomplete while small frames scattered around the spaces can seem disorganised. Add:
A larger art piece over the bed or dresser – symmetrical twinning prints
6) The somewhat unfinished colour scheme of the room can make a bedroom feel like it’s still under construction. What to include:
A basic 2 – 3 colour package. Then the final trick is to repeat at least three times your accent colour in coordinating bedding, art and rugs.
